Joyce and Dora
Joyce and Dora recall their school days
Both Joyce and Dora went to Church Street School. Then when they were seven they went from Church Street to King Street. The National School in King Street was a Church of England School, which is now a bank. Joyce loved school she didn't want to leave. They shut King Street School down when she was about eleven and veryone was disbursed to different places. Both were sent to Kings Farm which had just been opened. After they had been there for 3 months, they got thrown out of there and so they went to Cecil Road. They walked from Queen Street to Cecil Road 4 times a day. There were no school dinners. First of all they took sandwiches and went in Dashwood field and eat them. then after that they started going home, but they found as soon as they got home it was time to walk back to school again.
